oops. The spring semester proved to be hard work and it it certainly evident in the lack of posts on this blog! I started out strong and then around spring break my determination withered away into nothing and I stopped doing homework and started watching a lot of Netflix. As a result, the last few weeks were a tornado of unworked homework assignments and final papers. Now that it is summer, I feel renewed in the sense that school seems like a fun thing again. I can't wait until fall! Anyway, I did pretty well in my classes but not as well in some than what I had hoped for. I made a vlog about my semester which I'm going to post here instead of writing out everything I've already talked about on camera.
This semester has been a lot. I think I'm about half way through as of right now. Most of my classes this semester have two midterms each and I just took the first ones. I'm not too confident in Calculus II and I'm kind of upset about it.
Last semester I loved Calc I so much and aced all my exams but I'm actually struggling in Calc II and I can't figure out why. Well, actually, I think it is because I'm not liking the teaching methods used by my professor this semester and so that is making it difficult for me to keep up because I end up teaching myself pretty much everything. And I'm even going to tutoring two to three times a week! I'm exhausted with just that class alone. I just wish I could find someone to explain things in a way I could understand!
I've been dedicating most of my time to calculus and I've fallen behind in physics which is making really nervous because I want to do well in this class. The lab is such a pain because it requires so much work and takes away time from the lecture class. I'm planning on using spring break as a way to study hard and catch up in physics. I really do enjoy it though and I really do think I'm in the right major. I know I can do it with a lot of hard work and dedication.
I feel like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime are the trinity of unity that all college students share. It's rare that I meet someone who doesn't have one of the three. As a college student, one of my favorite pastimes is binge watching tv shows instead of studying. I spend a great deal of time sifting through the good and the bad in order to find the perfect shows. Here's my list of binge-worthy sci-fi shows that have it all.
The time for summer internships applications has arrived. I had not thought much about this up until recently. The idea of applying for internships frightens me probably more than the idea of applying to colleges frightened me. I honestly have felt so lost and overwhelmed with the whole process. Thankfully there have been some wonderful people who have stepped up and given me some great advice. The internet has also helped in answering some of my most detailed questions. This is what I've learned so far.

I always see book challenges floating around the internet and they're always super great. As a fan of classic science fiction, I've been looking for an excuse to try and read more modern science fiction. This science fiction reading challenge is perfect because it plans for just one book per month and covers a wide variety of topics within the sci-fi genre. I'm super excited to get started. It might be useful to plan out the 12 books you plan on reading this year or even pick each book as you go!

This semester was a pretty good one. I was a bit nervous at the beginning, mostly because I signed up for chemistry and the lab. I may love all things STEM but I've always had difficulties in chemistry. However, I put in a decent amount of studying and ended up doing pretty well.
I also took calculus which I was REALLY nervous about. Calculus is something that is vital for my major and I knew that this semester would be super important in seeing if I actually have what it takes to major in physics. I studied the most for this class and it really payed off. During the semester it felt like a true sacrifice to spend all my weekends and evenings doing practice problem after practice problem... but it was worth it. I consistently aced each exam and understood the topics easier that I had thought. I'm glad I put in the effort and made that foundation quite strong before I move on to the next levels in the math sequence.
Overall it was a great semester and I can't wait to take physics and calc II in the spring!
